Locus Acts Fast with New, Cutting-Edge
Automation
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ, November
17, 2004 — Headquartered in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, Locus
Telecommunications, a full-service telecommunications company
and one of the nation’s premier prepaid wireless MVNOs
(Mobile Virtual Network Operators), today announced the
introduction of its newest distributor support service
– ActFast SM –
a quick, simple and fully automated way to activate Locus prepaid
wireless phones.
Traditionally, the wireless industry’s phone activation processes
are time consuming, labor-intensive, and costly. In its continued
efforts to support its distribution partners, Locus created
ActFast SM to interface
and exchange information with both the underlying carrier’s
mobile switch activation and billing platforms. This proprietary
solution also incorporates speech recognition as a component
of an automated means to add airtime to the end users wireless
phone account.
According to Ken Myers, Locus’ Senior Director of Marketing,
“ActFast SM is a tremendous
tool for our distributors and dealers that will dramatically
reduce the amount of time to activate a phone to as little
as 60 seconds.” Through ActFast SM,
Locus’ distributors and dealers can activate and pre-load promotional
minutes through either an IVR or web-based application. Once
the activation process is completed, Over-The-Air (OTA) programming
is transmitted to and downloaded by the wireless phone. Although
ActFast SM is now available
to Locus distributors and dealers, Locus continues to support
activations through its customer service agents that are available
during retailing hours 7 days a week.
